I may not look like how everyone else looks like when they dance but I never will due to my Cerebral Palsy. And it’s the same for those with other physical disabilities & neurological conditions.
But I absolutely love dancing & how I feel when I am!
I always wanted to dance growing up but no dance school would take me with my CP!
I wanted to do my friend’s Barry’s Chair Dance workshop for a while & I was so glad it was on after my own seated session at FitCamps so I could actually do it!
I knew in advance I would have to adapt it & had the chair on my stronger arm but this didn’t stop me one bit! Again some wouldn’t do this as it would make them stand out as being different even more!
Barry teaches many disabled people in his community classes in Blackpool & he knows I will adapt to my abilities, and he does keep an eye on how I adapt.
Dance is all about the feeling, how it makes you feel, not what you look like!
It’s an expression of you, how you feel & you can completely forget what is happening in your life in that moment of time!
Don’t let your disability or health condition stop you from dancing, taking a fitness class or trying something new. Just because you may look different, worried about keeping up - you can see me not doing some of the moves or I can’t stand up as quick but I still felt the dance, and I still felt amazing & I unleashed the sexy diva inside of me! Everyone including those with a disability or health condition have a right to feel sexy.
In all of our classes, we focus on the movement. You move how your body lets you. Everyone’s technique is different, everyone moves in a different way!
We want you to have fun & enjoy yourself regardless if it’s Zumba or NeuroHIIT!
We celebrate that everyone can move regardless of disability or health condition!
Also if you’re in Blackpool- definitely check out Barry Kinder Fitness - you won’t regret it & I can guarantee you will smile, laugh & be entertained the whole class!
